GEOGASTRO: GALUNGGUNG

Galunggung is an active volcano, and is currently predicted to erupt again. The 14th century saw the emergence of a culture when the volcano was active. Known as the Kingdom of Rumpaka, it was marked by the discovery of an inscription dating back to 1033 Saka, or around 1111 AD.

There was a culture related to obtaining food sources, teachings that led to manners and culture, including regulating the procedures for serving and processing food. These food sources were available and easy to obtain, because nature provided them for free.

Earth tourism reveals the secrets of the earth through Geogastrocamp. A combination of geotourism (earth) and gastronomy on the southern slopes of Mt. Galunggung, Tasikmalaya. Visit the evidence of the eruptions of Mt. Galunggung in 1822, 1822, and the last eruption in 1982-83.

Itinerary

Day 1: Morning departure from Bandung, heading to Karaha Crater. Tracing the 1982-83 eruption around Cisayong, lava flows, and pyroclastic deposits on the slopes of Dinding Ari. Camping on the slopes of Mount Galunggung.

Day 2: Sunrise at the peak of Mount Galunggung crater. Visit to hot springs. Return to Bandung.
